Weitere Personen der Handlung sind die fleißig-kluge Mutter Leitner, Ortsbürgermeister Toni Kirchbichler, der liebenswürdige, weltoffene und stets zu einem Bierchen bereite Ortspfarrer Friedl sowie eine Menge anderer, großartig dargestellter Charakteren.
Schauplatz der Handlung ist die bezaubernd-urige Rübezahl Alm im wunderschönen, sommerlichen Ellmau in Tirol. Von hier oben reicht der Blick in eine atemberaubende Landschaft... Ihr Platz auf der Alm ist reserviert!

Eva Leitner is delighted. After ten years of marriage she and her husband Johann are finally going to take a fortnight’s holiday in Italy. It’s not exactly that Eva is unhappy in the beautiful ski resort of Ellmau, where she and Johann run a small hotel in an absolutely idyllic setting. But working in the tourist industry inevitably means that they have little opportunity for a private life. And Eva is saddened by the fact that they have no children. They do both care very deeply for Florian, a young orphan being brought up by his grandfather not far from their hotel – but it’s not exactly what Eva would wish for. Eva and Maria, Johann’s mother, hardly look up from their work one day when a helicopter lands nearby with a deafening noise. Anita Egger, the director of a large company, has come to have a look at the hotel with her fiancé, Carlo Ambach, a wealthy businessman from Munich. They plan to hold their wedding reception here and need to discuss the details with Johann. Eva does realise that the date of the wedding is in the middle of their planned holiday, but they are so busy that she has no time to talk the matter over with Johann that day. Eva has no way of knowing that Johann has agreed to take the booking for the wedding because they are in serious financial difficulties. He has invested in a project to construct a ski lift that will bring people straight up to the hotel, and is now deep in debt. The bank has been writing very threatening letters. However, before he can explain all this to Eva she suddenly disappears. She has misunderstood the entire situation and believes that Johann has betrayed her – so she abruptly decides to go to Venice, where her sister lives, with Carlo Ambach. Carlo and Anita have also had a huge row and broken off their engagement. Now Carlo and Eva are both subject to a mixture of anger, frustration and regret, but after some time the sunshine of Italy allows them to see these powerful emotions in a new light. And the partners they have left behind have also been giving a lot of thought to matters at hand.
